Plenty of Diallo threads so let's take a scenario where we don't get Diallo. As a given, we look at who we have coming back and have added.
Guards
Monte Morris
Naz Long
Matt Thomas
Hallice Cooke
Deonte Burton
Guard/Wings
Abdel Nader
Darrien Williams
Forwards
Georges Niang
Jameel McKay
Yorgos Tsalmpouris
With no additions we have a strong team, but I do agree with others that we will be thin on the interior. In a pinch we can move Nader and Williams inside, but they may not be nearly as effective as natural PF's. Williams might be the better of the two inside, but it still leaves us awfully thin inside with little room for injuries or foul trouble. I don't think that Tsalmpouris will be ready to contribute big minutes next season. I'm not counting him out, but he's got a long way to go.
With the 3 open spots, my order of preference.
An immediately available transfer big. There are some available.
Nick Noskowiak - Prep PG/Combo Guard. I may be alone, but I think a player like him would be ideal. Due to our current roster situation, he may even be moving up the pecking order. TJ was his original contact. With TJ's return, who knows. NN did get a release from Marquette after initially committing to them.
Trey Lewis - I really like this guy. He makes the crowded guard situation, more crowded, but he's only playing for one season and he's got enough handles he could play point. I think it is a long shot, but may be possible if Burton decided to sit the whole season. He's good enough to start over our returning guys. Still, quite a long shot as I think Louisville grabs him.
Josh Cunningham - would be a fine addition as he would be eligible after Nader leaves. That said, I believe he is a Matt Abdelmassih recruit and therefore may have to compete with St. Johns who also recruited him originally as well.
Just throwing some names out there.
