An Iowa State softball player has been named to the USA college softball player of the year watch list and I barely knew she was on the team. Her name is Angelina Allen, and, of course, I'd heard of her, but I had no idea she was so good. Last year, she hit .435 with 11 homers and 22 doubles to lead the Cyclones in all three categories. Now maybe I don't follow softball as religiously as some of the other sports, but I like to think I know who the good players are on the team. This one caught me completely off guard. But this girl had the best season of any Cyclone player since Sami Williams in 2021 and I completely whiffed on it.
