On the trip over from Cedar Rapids to Ames, I saw some progress on the four lane being built through the hills east of Tama. Approaching from the east, they have now paved a connection from the two lane to the east bound lane of the four lane highway. It is blocked with orange pylons, so you can't use it yet, but it's getting there. There was no paint on the road yet, but it looks like the signs are up.
At the west end there are two or three crossover strips of pavement. I believe these are temporary and redirect traffic so the eastbound lane of the old road can be connected to the new road. I can't believe that will be very far off. They still have the concrete factory running, so they probably would like to finish that up and any finish connecting any crossing roads before shutting it down.
