I doubt this will be popular here, but I believe implementing an offense similar to NDSU's would be a great move for ISU. Commit to the running game and stick with it. Use unbalanced fronts. Throw in occasional play-action passes along with well designed screen plays.
The defenses in our league are built to defend the spread. Speed is the recruiting priority. Why not force these teams linebackers to come up and take on guards and make tough tackles down after down? Let's do something to offset our inherent disadvantages.
Now obviously the main problem with this would be recruiting the personnel to get it done. It would take some time no doubt! It's easier to recruit big mean o-lineman to this part of the country than speedy skill guys, though, right? Also what the hell do we have to lose at this point?
