Never been a watch guy but I've just been given 3 pocket watches that have been in the family for quite a while. I have 2 Elgins and a Waltham (Waltham was owned by my great grandfather). It's been a blast learning about them and I've developed a (likely brief) love affair with old time pieces. There's a value to them and there's a "value" to them. Initially one thinks priceless heirloom worth it's weight in gold (value) but then the historical context of a watch made pre-1900 and used by my great grandfather becomes clearer ("value"). Gonna have them looked at both for value AND to keep them in top working shape. BEAUTIFUL movement and workings!
Also received a 1950s Omega SeaMaster AND a vintage Girard-Perregaux. These (probably) have much more value than "value" so gonna get them appraised simply to understand what I have.
Any pother pocket watch enthusiasts? Any cool family treasures you've come across?
