We are all (mostly) feeling better about things today. We are excited that we found some things. We found out that we can run the ball when we have to. We found out that we are better when our QB is a running threat. We found out the Mike Warren is the real deal (but has to take care of the ball better) and that Josh Thomas is improving. We know that Trever Ryen adds some things to the offense. We know that Lanning can throw the ball some within the confines of what he is being given. We know, I believe, that our DB's and DL are improved. I think we took a lot of plusses from this game.
But I am a Cyclone. We are excited about a loss - and a loss that had we played tighter might, just maybe, have been one of those rare, magical upsets. We have to clean up turnovers. And, bottom line, is we still have to find some wins. The hope is greater, for me anyway, that we can get some victories. But certainly not a guarantee.
My minuses from the game would be: Linebacker play (does Jay Jones ever hit anyone?); I thought the defense was on the verge of quitting in the first half; running 2 plays on 3rd and 2 from the shotgun; not getting the turnovers that were possible (passes dropped by Tribune and deflections that we can't get to). Those are the kind of plays that need to be made to play winning football in the Big XII.
On to next week.
