I was listening to Full Rde (Neuheisal, Childers) on Sirius 84 and they were interviewing Pete Thamel (I think), a noted sports writer. Pete was very doubtful the season would ever get under way, as he felt particularly the Big Ten and PAC 12 will likely shut down. He cited several instances that are making the Presidents of the Universities nervous about health and safety of players and staff and possible financial impacts of lawsuits against the Universities.
If, and that is not yet a given, he is correct and the B1G and PAC 12 suspend football for the fall season, that will put pressure on the other conferences to follow suit. And if they dont, ISU would be in a tenuous position.
I am skeptical that ISU could play, if Iowa cannot. First, the optics within the state would be bad. If an ISU player or staff member got seriously ill, we would be skewered in the press. Secondly, politicians would skewer us, probably to the point of threatening funding. Finally, the liability would go through the roof.
The odds seemingly get longer by the hour.
