I was just thinking this afternoon that regardless of the inner turmoil/disagreements that have likely gone on this season among the coaching staff, the Mangino dismissal today still had to come as a big shock to the rest of the staff - including Sturdy (if nothing else - the timing of it).
Consider this - you find out today that Mangino is out and you're "in" as the interim OC. Not that coaches at power 5 FBS programs get much sleep during the season anyway.....but I've got to imagine Sturdy will be running on adrenaline this week to prepare Lanning and this offense.
We've all at one point in our working careers had to work on some special project where we had to impress. But I can't even imagine the internal pressure he's probably feeling at this point. Hope he succeeds.
