Sen. Jack Whitver of Ankeny was elected Iowa Senate president Friday by his fellow Republicans. He's moving up the leadership ladder.
According to a story in today's Register, Whitver, 36, a Grinnell native and Iowa State University graduate, may be best known as a receiver and three-year starter on the Cyclone football team. He started a small business, Acceleration Iowa (an athlete training center and fitness facility in Ankeny specializing "Frappier Acceleration Sports Training") after earning his degree from ISU. He then graduated from Drake University Law School. He has served in the Iowa Senate since 2011.
