Whether you were a high school, college or pro superstar, or just a guy (or gal) trying their best to compete, you've probably got some favorite individual memories of games you've played in. And you may have some you would rather forget. I know I have many of my own, but I thought it would be fun during this holiday season to hear some of yours. Be as brief as possible if you can. Some of my favorites didn't occur in formal competition, but they were great memories just the same.
I'll start with one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. We were playing a crappy high school basketball team and at the start of the game I stole the ball three straight times before they got it across half court. I raced in for the layup and missed all three times. Each time was worse, the last one hitting the bottom of the rim. I was a fast runner and didn't learn to slow down before laying the ball off the backboard. There was about a foot between the wall behind the basket and the baseline so high speed layups required a controlled crash in to a canvas mat that hung from hooks about 6" away from the wall. After the third miss I quit trying to steal the ball. I think we had a 21-0 lead in that game anyway.
