I went to a Vietnamese restaurant yesterday for some takeout for lunch and ordered the brown rice. That's what it was called, not fried rice. I don't know what the difference is in preparation, but it tastes different than fried rice, that's for sure. Anyway, I got a combo meat, chicken and pork, and it was loaded with broccoli, onions and other vegetables. This takeout container must have weighed 5 pounds and I got it for $10. It was enough for 2 lunches and I'm having the rest of it today. It's very, very good and spicy hot, just the way I like it.
We must have a dozen Vietnamese restaurants in this town, but this is the first time I've encountered this dish. We also have about half a dozen Thai places and a pretty substantial Asian market if you want to make your own. It's a pretty good place to live if you love this type of food like I do.
