I went out and bought a 50-inch Vizio ultra hi-def 4G LED smart TV. I got it home, got it all installed and ... it didn't work. Got to thinking what could it be. I'm no tech genius, I could have hooked it up wrong. Checked and double checked all the connections, read the manual, decided, no, it's hooked up right, it should be working now. What could it be? The TV in the bedroom is working and it runs off the same DVR, so it can't be that. Decided maybe it was the HDMI cable, go to Walmart and buy a new one. Got it home, hooked it up and voila, I have TV.
Got to thinking, is this what was wrong with my old TV all along? Used new HDMI cable to connect to old TV and voila, not only do I have TV, I have it in on all 3 HDMI ports
So I paid highly trained (???) "professionals" to come to my house to tell me that 2 of my 3 HDMI ports were fried by an electrical storm and the third was on life support and the cost of fixing it would be more than its worth when it was just a bad HDMI cable you can get for $5 on Amazon? You'd think that would have been the first thing they checked.
There's no way I'll ever get a refund out of these people. They charged me $50 for the home visit, half of which would have gone toward the cost of repairs if I had decided to repair the TV. They were here 3-4 months ago looking at my TV and the cable went all the way out last week. They probably don't even remember coming here by now.
By the way, I love the TV, even though I wanted a 55-inch. They didn't have any of those in stock at either Best Buy or Walmart and could not order one because Vizio is so backed up on that size they've stopped taking orders and aren't making them anymore after the current orders are filled because the new models come out in about a month.
I decided to give the old TV to my eldest daughter and keep the new one. was tempted to put the old 52-inch sony in my bedroom and give her the 37-inch Olivia instead, but that just didn't work out logistically. 52 inches would have been way too big and heavy for my bedroom and the stand I keep it on, which is already bending under the weight of the 37 inch.
