This article in the USA Today is talking about how Ole Miss and Auburn are cutting football budgets. As an example, Auburn is using cheaper hotels and restaurants, and busing to some games instead of flying.
Ole Miss is down about 20,000 in season ticket sales (still 5 weeks to go, but not going to get close to where they were a few years ago).
Talks about Virginia (ACC) who is coming off a strong season, but had to run a promotion selling tickets for $17.76 to games in September, including a game vs. Florida State, but still have thousands of seats not sold.
Did mention that schools are improving schedules, but much of that won't take until several years down the road.
Maybe at some point, the millions and millions paid to coaching staff's will need to be reigned in.
As some have said, we are very fortunate to have our fan base. But...can't take that for granted, most of us can remember lots of empty seats in the late 80's.
