1) I am basically forced to have Mediacom as my TV service provider due to how my house is situated in relation to trees in my backyard. I am still interested in trying to set something up for my RV for games and camping weekends, etc.

2) Given my choice, I prefer DirecTV over Dish, but Dish's traveling satellite is HD and comes with the receiver. Compare that to DirecTV and their system is SD and requires a purchase of the receiver even though they ask the same price ($450.00) as the bundle that Dish offers.

3) Dish claims a "pay as you go" or something like that, I have no clue if that means you can prorate it and only pay for the times you actually want the service or not. I can't justify paying 2 full monthly TV service bills just for the convenience of the weekend viewing in the RV.

I guess my questions for those who have done this in the past would be this:

Is there a way to actually get the service prorated for only the days you will use it?

Is it really worth the initial 450-500 dollar cost, and the overall hassle of dealing with the satellite system/company in general?

TIA
