Fellow fans probably agree that KC has pretty much played themselves out of the playoffs after the last two losses. With fewer than 20 games, it would be tough to win four more than the ones ahead of them for that second spot.
I'm their defense, they aren't a whole team, with all of the injuries. Starting pitching has been a liability all season, and now the best weapon -- the bull pen -- has really started to leak.
The talent is still there, although some can't play, and this reminds me of 2013 -- winning record but only close.
Not being in the playoffs should give them the extra time to rest and heal. I think Dayton will fill the holes this winter, and we ll be watching them in October again next year.
