Robbie Bachman drummer for Bachman-Turner Overdrive, then BTO, passed away last Thursday.
Bummed.
Two HS buddies and I skipped our Jr-Sr prom and, instead, went to see BTO at the Music Hall, backside of Civic Auditorium in Omaha. We took "the boat," my parents' '72 Ford LTD and went down for the day, drinking lots of Schlitz beer, parking in the rear loading area.
We ended up seeing some of the band members and got Robbie's and Blair Thornton's autographs; I was wearing my letter jacket.
Later, toward concert's end we rushed up to the stage. After the encore, Robbie came over and tossed his drumsticks toward me and I was able to get one. RIP Robbie.
Lots of great R&R came out of Canada.
