Played Quail Hollow Club on Wednesday. Host club to the PGA Championship in 2017 and the President's Cup in 2019. The changes are incredible considering they started immediately after the conclusion of the Wells Fargo Championship in June.
Holes 1 - 5 have been completely reworked. Number one is now a par 5 for the members, but I'm told its a par 4 for the PGA at 559 yards. It doesn't play that long as I was pin high left after a D1/19H approach. Very gettable with a good drive. Number 2 is now a shortish par 4 to an uphill green at 414 yards one up from the WF tees.
The biggest change is number 18. All of the trees that enclosed the left side are gone. I suppose they did that to open it up to spectators. Nothing changed from a playability standpoint, but my personal opinion is that it is an easier tee shot as it doesn't feel as closed in. The creek is still there, though.
Looking forward to a good Sunday at East Lake and then a really fun week watching the Ryder Cup in Minnesota!
