Off topic to Cyclones, overtime. Just had another sister kisser in the NFL with a tie. I really like the college overtime. But in the NFL, the offenses have such advantage, I don't think it would work as well. And that is probably why we have the current rule there. I probably like it more than most people, but still it is kinda iffy. Here is a overtime rule change I have:

The head coaches would hate this, because it would put a lot of pressure on them. But I'd like to see the head coaches meet at midfield with the referee, and have an "I'll go on offense auction." First team to score wins.

Home team goes first, with an offer of what yard line they will take the ball on. So for example, home team coach says, "I'll take the ball on my own 40." Visitor coach says, "I'll take the ball on my own 39." And then keep going until one coach says, "Go ahead, take it."

I think the bidding would be exciting. The overtime would play more like a real game, unlike the college overtime. It would also eliminate the huge advantage the team going on defense first has in the college OT. There would be no goofy, "Game over on 1st TD scored, but if you get a field goal, the other team gets a chance," like the NFL has.

Since the Chiefs and Vikings are pretty popular here, imagine an OT between the Chiefs and Vikings. If you were head coach, what yard line would you tell your opponent to take the ball?
