I suppose I'm showing my age here, but after watching the first 3 nights of the remake of Roots, I think I prefer the original version. I just so happened to be in the middle of my ISU experience in the 1970s when it aired the first time, and I remember I and a bunch of my dorm mates quickly got hooked on watching every episode.
I've just been having a hard time catching all the dialogue in this version...especially so the first 2 nights. And the nighttime scenes are so dark on the screen that it's hard for me to make out what's actually going on.
Once the final episode airs tonight, I kind of want to watch the original Roots again. It sure had quite an impact on television viewing when it aired in the 70s.
