In the DSM Register. The Register also posts its own editorial.
Leath: Contacted Hertz Farm Msnagement, too. Considered many properties, but Hardin County 215 acre unique original property in Iowa River Valley at auction had not been surveyed in over 100 years, and could not get financing without survey, so divided later. Leath bought 145 acres, including 89 acres of timber at $2,140 and 56 tillable aces at $7,676, the same prices paid by Summit. Aware there would be some public sensitivity so consulted personal legal counsel and told it was a private matter. ISU senate faculty president told Register nothing to see here, move along. Leath and family excited to have a place to escape to and spread their Iowa roots.
Register: Is it possible that ISU was privatized while no one was looking and now it's being run as a for-profit university? It appears Leath and regents don't understand their duties to a public institution. Only Leath and Rassetter have themselves to blame for these questions and scrutiny because they expanded their public-professional relationship.
Common, really?
In this day of uber transparency, I think it's time the keepers of the fourth estate trust (Register editorial board) disclose their holdings and investments. Just what are their interests? When and where did they purchase land? What is their 401k invested in? How do these holdings influence their editorial decisions? Let's storm the castle!
