LastPass is a great password manager. The free version is quite capable, but I subscribe to the premium version for a modest $12/year. I have been using it for years on my PC, iPad and iPhone. Today brought tears to my eyes to learn that LastPass was is being acquired by LogMeIn. These kind of acquisitions turn out bad for the consumer it seems most of the time, especially when LastPass was darn near perfect.
The outcry from LastPass users is overwhelming. Many are familiar with LogMeIn and do not like them at all. I've tried LogMeIn before, but I really didn't need a remote desktop application, especially when this site went to the new software that remembered read posts across platforms.
Most people are planning to move to another password manager product. My premium subscription expires next month and I probably won't renew. I may continue on with the free version for a while and see what changes are in store. Maybe the outcry will be so great the acquisition will fall through, but I doubt it. The LastPass owners are getting a big payday and the LogMeIn owners are probably too egotistical to let any of this affect them.
Does anybody else use LastPass? What are you planning to do? Does anybody else have an alternative password manager recommendation?
