The virus certainly hit much closer to home tonight when I got word that an Oakland A’s minor league coach, who I had worked with back in my days covering the organization’s minor league system more closely, has it. Webster Garrison was the Low-A Beloit Snappers manager in 2018, and my family and I caught up with him last summer managing Stockton in the California League.
He’s the first person I know on a personal level that’s gotten it, and he’s fighting for his life on a ventilator in a Louisiana hospital.
