Websites asking for permission to show notifications has become a big annoyance for me. I use notifications on my phone, not on my PC. These popups are a nuisance. So I finally Googled to find out how to stop them.
Note that the instructions for Chrome say to click "Content Settings" under the Privacy and Settings group of Advanced Settings. On my Chrome browser it is "Site Settings".
