Rather than go out to the store and get groceries, I decided to use Instacart to avoid exposing myself to the plague. For those unaware, Instacart is sort of like Waitr or GrubHub for retail stores. In our town, they've only signed up Sam's Club; Harps, which is a grocery chain; Target; Aldi, a low end, bulk grocery chain; and PetCo so far.

The only complaint I have is that when I chose a delivery time, I chose "next available," because it said my groceries would be delivered after noon. Instead, they were delivered before 9:30. Everyone who knows me knows not to call me or call on me before 11 a.m. at the earliest because I'm a night owl and frequently, especially in retirement, don't go to bed until 5 a.m. some nights. It's usually closer to 4-4:30, but still pretty late. I suppose it comes from working second shift most of my life. So if I hadn't had to get up at about 8:30 to go to the bathroom, I would have never known that my "shopper" had already started shopping for me. They notified me by text. So I had to get up and get dressed to wait for him.

If anyone is tempted to use Instacart, my advice would be to choose a definitive time for delivery when it's convenient for you, rather than choose "next available."
