I just got a notice that I can reserve a free upgrade to Windows 10. Being the skeptical sort that I am, I wondered what's the catch? I currently have Windows 8.1 installed, but to make it acceptable am running a third party Windows shell which brings back the familiar start button and menus.
I originally upgraded to Windows 8 because I got a version that also included Media Center. Media Center along with an HD Homerun tuner let me watch and record TV on my PC. I wonder if Windows 10 eliminates the Media Center or equivalent, although I seldom use it anyway.
I had been waiting for the release of Windows 10 before I make my next PC purchase. Now that it's here and their giving it away, it makes me fearful that I am stepping off a ledge and there is no return. Do I dare reserve it for my aging laptop PC?
