Has anyone ever heard the term "clay hopper" and know what it might be? And I'm NOT referring to the baseball player from the 1900s.
I'm working on a story, and saw reference to "clay hoppers in the barn windows", but I'm not sure what they are. I'm thinking they might be those little wasp or hornet nests made out of mud...but that's just a guess on my part.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Saw another term this week while working on a story that I wasn't familiar with--Gandy Dancer. Apparently that's an old reference to workers who would head out on the railroads years ago for weeks at a time fixing or replacing railroad tracks.
