I wanted to put the Campos issue in a different thread that is not the yearly bitchfest that is the Gridiron Club closed scrimmage. Every year, it's the same "I saw practice but can't tell" vs "This isn't rocket science, why do the coaches care if people report what they saw?". It's like clockwork the day of the scrimmage. BTW, I did not attend today, so I don't have anything to report.

Anyway, IF Campos has a broken leg and is out for at least half the season, what are our options? Campos, Lanning and Tucker were the three guys that IMO ISU could not afford to lose and losing any of them would probably cost ISU at least a couple wins. As good as Lazard, Warren and Cotton-Moya are, the dropoff isn't so far below them and/or their absence could be covered up some.

For the OL, I do think that it was a recruiting mistake not to bring in a JUCO OT. Although, it is difficult to blame the staff too much when they got in so late. OT depth was looking pretty bad and I thought during the spring that they could not afford to lose Campos or Philbert for any stretch. It's horribly bad luck to lose two guys out of the two-deep before even the first scrimmage of camp. That said, losing Campos now is better than losing him the week of the UNI game. At least the staff has some time to move players around.

I guess what I would do is move Good-Jones to RT and then let Bobeck compete with Meeker for the starting Center spot. I've seen Shawn Curtis play and I don't think he's the answer. The other option is Kodanko, but we've seen zero from him and heard zero about his progress. Or maybe Karson Green can play RT? I don't think that they should rush Campos back, but I do believe that it would be a bad decision to sit him for the year and hope for a medical RS, because he won't get it.
