A defensive tackle with a pair of Power-5 offers from programs in the Midwest was on Iowa State’s campus over the weekend to watch the spring game.

Lincoln (Neb.) Southeast junior Bryson Williams has been a frequent visitor to Ames, but has yet to collect an offer from the Cyclones. Either way, the 6-foot-2, 293-pound Williams got a lot out of his most recent visit.

“I was there around 10:30 and got to check out all the facilities again,” said Williams. “I talked to Coach Rasheed a little bit before the game. I brought my family and it was a great time. This was my fourth time being at Iowa State, so I have a good feel for the campus, facilities and coaches. I also enjoyed watching the spring game.

“I got the chance to talk to Coach Campbell right before the game started. He wanted to make sure I watched the defensive line, because he wanted my thoughts on it after the game. I know they have a pretty good group returning and they were super aggressive from the start.”

Williams already has P5 offers from Iowa and Kansas State, to go along with G5 programs Air Force, Navy, Ohio and UCF.

The three-star prospect in the Class of 2018 hopes to have a little more clarity on his situation with ISU very soon.

“Coach Campbell wants me to call him (today),” Williams said. “I don’t have an offer from Iowa State yet, but I think one will happen. He is going to let me know where I am in the process.”

Williams has participated in summer camps at ISU the past two summers and also took in a practice. The defensive tackle said that he has enjoyed watching position coach Eli Rasheed work with his group.

“One of the things I really like is how Coach Rasheed is always on the players,” Williams said. “I like the whole accountability aspect of the way the whole staff coaches. I like how Coach Campbell is doing things. I know he is a young coach, but he’s been pretty successful at all his other schools.”
