Tom Herman was a guest of Dan Patrick this morning and gave a great interview. Spoke of how he played Div. 3 ball at Cal Lutheran and was the P. A. announcer for a number of sports and did highlight editing for NFL football for Fox Sports while in school.
His plan was to become a sports announcer but said he missed the relationships with the players in the locker room. Had a short term goal of becoming a Div. 1 head coordinator by the time he was 30 and if that didn't happen, he would've found something else to do. Said his dream job was to be the head coach of Fresno State because that is where his wife was from, and he had moved something like 6 times in 10 years which is really tough on a family.
His ultimate goal is to win championships and he felt that he could do that at Houston.
He thought he could give any team in America a run for their money on a given Saturday and didn't sound particularly urged to make a job change with a 3, 9, and 12 year old in the house. He is 41 years old now. Texas or LSU may come calling, but I'm not convinced he wants to go anywhere.
