Here in NE Iowa, the gravel roads are TERRIBLE. Yesterday the county dumped a semi load of crushed rock on a “black” spot a tenth of a mile south of my driveway. By this afternoon, that load of gravel has disappeared and the mud hole has enlarged. In my 65 years, the road has never been this treacherous.
I believe it comes down to an extremely wet late summer/fall season combined with the heaviest snowfall on record. I see little improvement until the frost comes out.
