Iowa State recently offered a Class of 2018 offensive tackle from New York City who says he would like to take an unofficial visit to Ames in the coming months.
Bronx Cardinal Hayes junior Qadir White said he heard from a Cyclone coach who spent time in another New York City borough during his own childhood.
“I talked to Coach Golesh on the phone at the end of August and he told me I had an offer from them,” said White. “He was very excited about offering me. We had a good connection. He told me he was from New York and told me about his background. We had a good conversation. He said they watched my film and loved it. They like me as a player and I’m just humbled.”
With his offer from the Cyclones, White is now up to six Power-5 offers.
“I’ve also got from Miami (Fla.), Rutgers, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Boston College,” White said. “The school I’m hearing from the most is Rutgers. They’re showing the most love.”
The 6-foot-7, 291-pound White said he has yet to take many unofficial visits, but that he will begin later this year.
“I’m planning on seeing colleges after my season in the winter,” he said. “Iowa State is one of the places I’d like to check out. I don’t know too much about Iowa State, but would love to see what it’s like.”
