Being 17 days out from the new HC announcement and having 6 of the 9 assistants officially hired and most of them having some sort of working relationship with the head coach and/or each other, we appear to be light years ahead of where we were in 2009. Especially with a Feb. 4, 2009 signing date.
2009 Staff and official hiring dates:
Rhoads- 12/20/08
Herman OC/QB- 01/03/09
Kenith Pope RB- 01/06/09
Luke Wells WR- 02/13/09
C. Messingham TE/ST- 02/18/09
Bill Bleil AHC/OL- 12/24/08
W. Burnham DC/OLB- 02/17/09
Chris Ash DB/RC- 01/??/09
Curtis Bray DE- 02/04/09
S. Burnham DT- 02/19/09
Yancy McKnight S&C - 01/28/09
If I recall correctly, Chizik had already been in negotiations with Herman to come here as OC when he left his entrenched position which expedited that hire.
Reading the bios, there appears to have been very little prior working relationships across that staff, which can definitely be a challenge to start with any organization.
I'm not as concerned about coordinator announcements and recruiting after this therapeutic exercise.
