Thought I’d pass this along if it could help anybody. Both my parents tested positive last week, within a few days of each other. They started experiencing symptoms and instead of them waiting for their Test Iowa roto rooter test appointment, I urged them to go to the MercyOne Urgent Care clinic in the East Village in Des Moines ASAP. They did that day and got results back in two days.
Upon getting those results, their doctor sent them to Iowa Lutheran the same day for BAMLANIVIMAB transfusions. Took about three hours to do and then they went home. Sounds like this treatment just got approved in the last month. Dad is 70 and mom 66, both considered high-risk, so they can receive these. Happy to report that less than a week later, they are feeling a ton better.
The key is catching it early and doing transfusions before symptoms hit hard enough for oxygen or hospitalization. I’d highly suggest this treatment for you or any loved ones that qualify. Been a lifesaver.
