Naz: looks as good as ever. For a guy only practicing every other day, his shooting looks spot on, and he's as quick as last year.
Monte: looking to shoot more, and he can score. By mid season will be a dominate PG who will be scoring more. He picked up where he left off last season.
Georges: rebounding more than last season, and we will need that with Dustin gone. Was pretty tired by the second half, but they have all been working hard on conditioning, and it's the early season legs that are worn down. Will serve him well later. Hit threes nice, and his inside game will be as strong as last season.
Thomas: he had really shifted to a higher gear on offense AND defense. I expect he and McKay will be most improved. Thomas assists were lights out last night, and 100% hustle all the time. He and Prohm must really connect.
McKay: has a complete game now. Nice 10-12 foot jumper he can hit in lane, more under control and runs the floor. We missed opportunities to pass to him on the break, but that will happen. His free throws are better. Will be an elite power forward/center. Looked simply strong.
Nader: started slow and I wondered what the problem was, but strong finish. He has bulked up and is a physical force. We really need him at a high level, and he showed he can play there. He neds to get the ball out of his hands coming up the court so he can get a return pass for drives. Can take it in, three point threat and can rebound. Should be a big year.
Carter: huge wingspan and can rebound and not afraid to go up strong to score. Looked like a freshman, just needs confidence. He can block shots. Will give us needed depth this year. I was excited to see his game.
Ernst: I think he can play at this level. He is a big body with skill. He doesn't get pushed around, and knows what to do with the ball in his hands. Has good control of his body. He exceeded my expectations.
Cook: he flat out can shoot. Best pure shooter on the team, and plays at 100% all the time. Can play wing or point, and his defense is no slouch. I really like his game, and he is still healing. Held my breath when he went flying for a ball out of bounds, but he was ok. Bet he sore today. Probably my biggest surprise, he could play for any team. Needs to find his role, but he will. We will all like his game by mid season. He's quick and a team player.
All in all, we looked good. Only concern is replacing Dustins rebounding...that's a work in progress. Fun times ahead!
