But that's not the story. She was 91 years old so it was kind of expected. The story is that she died last year 9 months ago and this side of the family is just now finding out about it. To put this in perspective, my sister took care of her for awhile when she started developing dementia and her son who lived closest to her didn't care a lick about it or her. So my sister, who is no spring chicken herself, took care of her for about 8 months before she was finally able to get ahold of one of her other two sons, who seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. One or both of them then took over the care of their mother, but promptly stuck her in a nursing home, which is probably where she belonged anyway, but it was not my sister's decision to make, so she didn't make it. And they never even told her she died. That's gratitude for you.

So I looked up the obit online. There is no obit. Just a death notice, no personal details other than her age, name and the nursing home she lived in. The other part of the story is that these two brothers who finally took over her care, didn't tell anyone she died, not even their youngest brother who lived closest to her. So I found out before he did. I don't know if he even knows it now. This was the last living sister of my mother. They didn't even tell the last living brother of my mother that she had died. The only thing I can draw from this is that family sucks.

Edit: sorry, I posted this on the wrong page. Can you please move it Bill? Thanks.
