Iowa State senior point guard Monté Morris has been named to the Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year preseason watch list, announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Morris, the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year and Associated Press Preseason All-American, returns for his senior season after averaging 13.8 points and 6.9 assists as a junior. He is currently the Big 12’s active leader in assists (551) and steals (172).
The Flint, Michigan native is also on the Bob Cousy Award and Lute Olson Award watch lists.
Iowa State open the season Friday against Savannah State at Hilton Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Naismith Trophy mid-season list of 30 will be released on Feb. 9, 2017.
