I know it's better than the GMac years, but I feel like in year 2 after CFH has left, we've reverted back to a middle of the pack, somewhat irrelevant team (on the national scale).
Most are picking us 10-8 or 9-9 in the Big 12, maybe an 8-10 seed, which is fine when compared to the GMac years, but the last few years we've been 3-4 seeds in the tourney and seen as a top 3 Big 12 team and program.
Seems like most articles/rankings I've seen have KU, WVU, Baylor, even Okie St ahead of us. It's similar to football in some ways, as we need to take advantage of the situation when OU and Texas are down (which they are), but of course Baylor and WVU seem to have vaulted ahead of us.
I know conference season is just starting and a lot can happen, and I hope I am wrong, but being unranked and middle of the pack just doesn't get me as excited or have the same flare.
And this is with 5 senior starters, including an All American and Big 12 preseason player of the year. That doesn't bode well for next year, unless we all think Wigginton will be better then Monte, or other newcomers will be better than Deonte, Thomas, Naz, etc.
I fear that we've missed our Final 4/conference title opportunity (tournament doesn't count)... how often do we have two All American caliber players on the same team? And after this year we will have none.
