I am probably overreacting to the Scoggins news. After all, he hasn't played a down for us, was moved to guard in the spring and was second team at center for this fall. But it seems that we get a lot of Offensive line injuries in practice. We have blamed body type and off season conditioning. But, in this case, he seems to have the stocky frame, with solid lower body, and has not really been in the weight program long enough to be changed one way or the other by that program.
Do you believe that some coaches are just plain snake-bitten. I know that theoretically you make your own luck, at least that is what the infamous "they" say. But I have been around football enough to know that most leg injuries are not preventable. A misstep and an ACL goes, a leg gets rolled up on in a pile and another ACL or MCL or Achilles.
Are some coaches just not able to catch a break or is it we are always so far behind in talent that any injury really hurts us - or so it seems? Crap, I was just starting to let some optimism in my psyche. I must be a Cyclone fan, because I don't know who else would be this bummed by an injury to the second string center.
