So as I continue to be in the hospital, I'm watching a lot of Cyclones.TV on the Mediacom Cable here in the hospital. The ESPN and FS1 argue fests during the day don't appeal to me.
They have been running past bowl games, win or lose. (Otherwise they only run games we win). Just some commentary by me, and see if any of you have any additional thoughts. Time marches on, and I forget a lot of stuff, but have had some memories brought back watching there.
1978 bowl game-Hall of Fame game. Looks like it was maybe syndicated, based on the graphics package on TV. They had some dressy graphics, I thought that was funny. I have no recollection of the game, but I'm guessing I watched back then. That team actually looked pretty good, and had some talent.
2000 Insight.com game. That team was legit. I realize it is only one game. But from what I saw, that may have been our best team up to the 2020 team. Lot of NFL guys. Lot of huge shoulder pads. Just from my untrained eye, the talent on that team was top notch. It was funny because the color guy, Dave Christensen was ripping on Paul Rhoads, the Pitt DC frequently. He also had a line, and if I can paraphrase, "A lot of co-ordinators like to use bowl games to showcase their talents to get head coaching job offers" LOL
2001 Independence Bowl. 14-13 Alabama. Wide right. Watched that again. I really get why they called it a miss. Would have been nice to have our last game vs Alabama as a win. But having watched, I don't feel bad. ISU played like crap with all sorts of dumb stuff. Yelk missed 2 other field goals. We got a punt blocked with 5 minutes left. Gave Bama a short field and they drove in for the winning touchdown. But dumb penalties, bad plays.
And this isn't football, but have watched some basketball reviews too. Something a bit off the rails, but the lighting and camera angle for the games at Kemper are the best I've seen. Just was wowed by how good it looked. I know there are some places that have horrible camera angles (Baylor's old football stadium comes to mind). Now, with ribbon boards, all sorts of places, Hilton included, have glare and reflections on the court. The Kemper view was a thing of beauty. But that is me, being a nitpicker of stuff like that.
Lot of old documentaries and reviews. Watched a review of the 1981 football team, just horrible production values. Had Olivia Newton John's song Physical, along with ELO's Hold on to Your Dreams at odd spots, but otherwise just played music straight out of a porno over the football highlights.
But it is nice that this channel is on Mediacom. I realize it no longer carries live games with ESPN+ doing that. I presume you can still buy this channel for streaming, even if you aren't a Mediacom subscriber. But anyway, been nice to have on during my hospital stay.
