Iowa State's recruitment of Butler County freshman wide receiver Darren Wilson is coming together pretty quickly, as he took an official visit to Ames this weekend. I just spoke with Wilson for a story I'll have in the next day or so. Although listed in the Rivals database as a 2020 prospect, he has actually reclassified to 2019 after graduating late last week. The Cyclones had a scholarship left to fill for this year's class, so assistant coach Alex Golesh targeted and offered the wide receiver earlier this spring. Wilson played the 2018 season at Butler, but redshirted in 2017 while rehabbing an injury at a JUCO program close to his home in Georgia.
He'll be eligible to sign with a program and immediately join a program in hopes of making an instant impact. Wilson said his decision will likely come down to Iowa State, West Virginia and Nebraska. He said the Huskers will be offering in the next couple days. West Virginia is his most recent offer and he's scheduled a visit there for this week. More to come on I-State's pursuit of Wilson.
