I thought the influx of Cyclone fans last year was amazing. This biggest crowd last year was on for the championship, when the entire place was filled with Cyclone fans. This year there were large Cyclone crowds for each game. And while we had to share the arena with Kansas fans for the championship, it appeared we outnumbered them in in the arena from my vantage point. Who would have ever thought that possible.

It was all great fun, but the Power and Light District isn't big enough to handle the influx. I was fighting off what may have been the late stages of the stomach flu, but it is just getting to be too much for me. Or maybe I'm just getting too old. The inability to move freely and especially the lack of restroom facilities is a real problem. It seems they need to rope off a wider area around the P&L so people can overflow onto the streets with their drinks. The current area can't handle the crowd. I'm thinking I may employ a different pregame strategy next year. Maybe go down early to the KC Live area, but then leave and take up residence in one of the bars on the fringes. Maybe those are overcrowded too. I don't know. But it has to be better than the area around McFadden's and The Dubliner. I don't recall security keeping people out of the area last year, so there must have been a bigger crowd on Friday. I think they stopped the inflow earlier on Saturday, so it wasn't as bad, but it was still too many people and too few facilities.

Anybody else have any thoughts? What do first timers have to say? Maybe it's just getting too routine.
