1) I really think the one play that cost us the game was the 3rd and 22 conversion for Iowa. I put that 100% on Heacock. We rushed 3, giving Stanley all day, and I don't care how good your defense is, your CB's can only cover for so long until something breaks down. Stanley has shown time and time again that he's very inaccurate under pressure. I love Heacock and what he does with this defense but he failed his players on that play call.
2) As for the honeymoon is over analogy, I agree. Doesn't mean I don't still love CMC and crew, but losing to Iowa is like your wife's bad habit that, even though you love her, drives you bat$h!t crazy. Now, turn around and pound ULM next week, and it will be like make-up sex, and all be right again for a while .
3) Considering we fair catch every freaking punt, why even bother blocking their gunner? Why block anybody? Just let Milton fair catch the damn ball, and send your other 10 for the punt block or something. Hell, just tell them to fall down on the snap, anything, but don't go through the motions of returning a punt when you never return a punt.
4) I don't know if they do this or not, but our CB's and LB's should be doing pass catching drills off the jugs machine just like the WR's do for a while. Catch the damn ball and we have 2 or 3 INT's.
5) I bet Jaquan Bailey has a bruised neck today since he was the victim of choke holds all day long with no calls.
6) Finally, I keep reminding myself that Iowa State is undefeated the last 2 Octobers, so it is reasonable to believe that while they may not stay perfect in that month, things will definitely get better.
