A junior college defensive tackle with multiple Big 12 offers and then some is planning to take an unofficial visit to Iowa State this weekend.

Miami (Okla.) Northeastern Oklahoma A&M standout Wiley Lester said he will drive to Central Iowa at the end of the week and spend time with a friend who is on the Cyclone roster now, before taking part in the structured part of his visit on Saturday.

“I plan to get on the road Friday and spend some time with some guys and then do the visit on Saturday,” Lester said. “Jacob Park is there now and he is one of my go-to guys. When he was down here, we were always talking about getting our grades and going to certain schools.

“And I was always asking him what it really like at a D-I school, because he’d been at one (Georgia) before,” Lester added. “He’s a good kid, a good guy, laid back and he has a good head on his shoulders.”

Lester was a non-qualifier out of Oklahoma City’s Putnam City High School. He’s made the most of taking the junior college path to big time college football and collected multiple Power 5 offers. In addition to ISU, Lester claims Big 12 offers from Baylor and West Virginia. He’s also been offered by Syracuse of the ACC and formidable Group of 5 programs like Houston, Colorado State and Tulsa.

According to Lester, his relationship with Iowa State has been deepening throughout the spring.

“It’s been about two, two-and-a-half months that we’ve really been talking,” said Lester. “I talk to Coach Golesh and Coach Campbell mostly. Coach Golesh was down here to watch our spring game. Their coaches show a lot of interest in me and they are honest about the program. I want to see for myself some of what they’ve been talking about.

“I’m looking at how schools run their defense and how the coaches look out for the players and their academics and Iowa State looks good in those areas,” he added.

Lester said he has already taken unofficial visits to Baylor, Houston and TCU.

Last fall, Lester appeared in six games for NEO, recording 21 tackles and two sacks. Rivals.com rates him as a three-star JUCO prospect.
