Iowa State signed four-star Chicagoland offensive lineman Sean Foster in this year’s class, and the coaching staff is back in the area scouting another big man from a school five minutes up the road.

Offensive lineman Tyler Jost of Libertyville High School, which is a five-minute drive from Mundelein Carmel Catholic, was on campus for a Junior Day visit this past weekend.

“I enjoyed it a lot,” said Jost. “It was a great visit and great experience for me to go to Iowa State. I definitely like the coaching staff. I spent a lot of time with Coach (Matt) Campbell and he has a desire to win at Iowa State. He genuinely cares about me and my background from where I came from."

As was the case in Foster’s recruitment, Cyclone offensive line coach Tom Manning will play a key role in trying to land Jost in the Class of 2017.

“I got to spend some time with Coach Manning and he had definitely watched my tape previously before I arrived on campus,” Jost said. “I can see him as being a great coach for that program in the future. He said he considers himself a lot different than most others at the college level. He makes his own brand of offensive lineman. He would want to change my stance and certain things with my technique, but he likes my aggressiveness and desire on the football field.”

Jost is being recruited to play any of the five positions along the offensive line.

This wasn’t the first time Jost had been on campus, as he was in Ames last year to check out ISU as a school.

“I had previously visited there as a sophomore,” he said. “This was before they started recruiting me for football this year. So that visit was solely an academic visit. I liked it then when I visited. Being able to visit there for football just added to my overall liking of Iowa State. I really enjoyed the whole experience and it was great to meet with all of the coaches to hear what they said about the program moving forward.”

In addition to I-State, Jost has FBS offers from Toledo, Miami (Ohio), Ball State, Buffalo, Western Michigan and Wyoming. For now, the offensive lineman says he’s taking his time in making a commitment.

“As far as my decision goes, right now I’m exploring all my options,” he said. “I’m spending a lot of time seeing all these schools, because I want to make sure I’m making the right choice for me personally.”
