Some of you might remember the story of my buddy’s son Johnny Schmidt who finished at Dowling in 2017. He camped at ISU a few years ago and really loved our program, but was perhaps a little short at 5’8 ish and 1/4 step slow in the 40.
Just got news today from his Dad that he signed after one year at Iowa Western to play Star Safety at Kent State with 3 years remaining. Really proud of the kid as he had a rough start to his life in Sierre Leone, but my buddy Paul and wife Tina, from Carroll, gave him a new life and he made the most of his opportunity.
