Attended the visitation for a work colleague, long retired. His obituary stated he graduated from Dubuque High School in 1958. He was a character in a good way so I thought I'd check out his high school yearbook via Classmates.com. Thumbing through the book, there was a picture of John Orr! (Same close cropped hair and half grin.) I'd forgotten that he'd coached there in the fifties. He taught world history and during that school year was head football, head basketball and head boys golf coach. Not sure what his classroom decorum was like, but I'll bet golf practices and trips to away meets were a riot.
I forgot to add, the '58 yearbook had each staff member list their out of school interests.
Orr, "taking pictures of my children" wait for it....."golfing." Who'd of guessed?
On the opposite page another staff member's interests, "hunting, fishing and collecting guns." I'm sure that would go over big today.
On another note, anyone remember seeing these Waldon/Orr videos?
