Moving to a new school district can sometimes cause recruiting prospects to drop off the college football radar a little bit.
When that happens, some proactive means are needed and that is exactly what defensive back Blake Jenkins and those around him decided to do this winter following his move from Pasadena to Corona, California, and his enrollment at Centennial High School.
Iowa State was one of the schools that received information on Jenkins and his move, and things happened from there.
“My coach sent out some 7-on-7 film and my dad sent messages to coaching staffs,” Jenkins explained. “I started talking on twitter with Coach D.K. (McDonald) at Iowa State and a little while later they told me I had an offer.”
Jenkins admitted he didn’t know much about ISU at the time, but he’s been trying to get caught up on his Cyclone knowledge ever since. And he said on Monday that is tentatively set to travel to Central Iowa for an I-State unofficial visit in June.
In addition to Iowa State, Jenkins said he has plans to visit San Jose State, Fresno State, UNLV and San Diego State.
ISU was the first school to offer Jenkins, in late March.
