Sorry to see that JAX in Ames is closing. I had a condo in Ames not far from JAX, but I never knew they existed. I had moved to the campustown town area when, maybe a decade after having a place in Ames, I discovered this awesome store. Two separate buildings were just packed full of sports-related stuff of all kinds. Well, I don't recall them selling golf clubs, but I could be wrong on that.
No long ago they were entertaining a move, but that must have fell through. I imagine overhead costs couldn't come close to their current location. Store traffic would have surely increased in a more visible location, but maybe not sales. I suppose a good percentage of traffic at their current store are1 people knowing what they want and not just browsing.
