The Cyclones just won another basketball game. That usually improves my disposition and especially when it's a meaningful game. So why is it that I don't feel great this morning? My mood is more like we lost last night. We didn't play at a championship level and that is the expectation for this team. We can't afford any letdowns to accomplish that goal. We didn't look anything like those two teams that played the classic on Big Monday.
We didn't look like a championship team. I guess that's a good thing. Hopefully the players aren't satisfied with their play last night. Winning when you don't play your best and having to play through adversity with your star player getting limited minutes is probably motivation for this team that they need to pick it up. Way too many layups last night. Some of that was foul trouble, but for a while I thought I was watching the Tech pregame warmup drill. Hopefully a poor performance will lead to more focus and effort in practice to get better. And that's a good thing. Maybe winning in this way does more for this team than if we would have taken that early 31-13 lead and won without being challenged.
