What a great day in Ames today. My thermometer is reading 63 degrees. Blue sky and bright sunshine. It would be perfect with a little less wind.
I went to Wallaby's for lunch then drove down Duff for a stop at Target and the traffic was crazy. There's a lot of people in town today and those that live here are out and about in large numbers. If you are coming to the game, it would be smart to come a little earlier than usual or risk getting tangled up in the traffic.
Yesterday was my last trip this school year to Ames to go to games. I'll be here through the women's game on Tuesday, then I'll shut it down for the summer with my only trips back for spring practice, gridiron club events and for a pit stop on the way to and back from the tournament in Kansas City. When I head home Tuesday I will have spent a record 75 nights in Ames this school year. I may hit 80 nights by the time I reset the counter in August. I always tell myself that I need to stop over a few times in the summer, but it seems after the coach's cookoff, I go two months without coming back.
This year I don't think I've missed a single home football, men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling or gymnastics meet. I did miss a volleyball game or two. I even stopped by a couple of soccer games this fall. I have yet to attend a softball game. The softball season just occurs at the wrong time of year and it doesn't justify a trip to Ames on it's own. Most those other sports occur when I am in Ames for the major sports.
